Updated Website!
I have had a website since last year but it was just only in English. Since I moved to Japan, I will try to do my best to show my work in both Japanese and English. You will see how it goes on my website! Check it out! http://rui-sasaki.com/home.html

Back to Japan.
Nov 25th: I met Yoko who I have known since I was a junior high school student. She is a multi media artist. She is one of artists who I respect! Her solo show will be coming up in Jan 2012. Check her website up! You can click her name and go to the website!
Nov 27th: I went to Arcus in my hometown. Arcus is the oldest art center run an artist in residency program in Japan. Proudly, Arcus is just 15mins away from my house by bike. The open studio was great. I met 3 artists who are from Pakistan, Poland, and China. Their works are interesting! Also, I was attend at an art conference by Ms. Odai (Director of Arcus), Moriya city mayor, and Mr. Hibino (artist). I was impressed at what they were talking about art in Japan!
Nov 29th: I saw off Anna who is from Germany and spent time in the AiR in NJ in Sep and Oct at Tokyo Sta. I went to Louis Vuitton Escape to see Alyson Shotz's exhibition.
Shibuya...
And, I met Ai and went to Chinese tea cafe.
I have to find a job and decide where I will be in 2012... My new life in Japan just started! Miss the USA but Japan is not bad :-)

Such a beautiful day.
Aida is always looking for food...
I want to live the bright orange house.
I like seeing the layers of mountains.
My studio is yellow or blue everyday and smells something... but cyanotype printmaking is fun and I am getting closer to what I want to make it.
And, I was researching about my display and like the idea of how human observes nature with his/her eyes and try to get accurate data in science.

Window Project
I have been recording the light through the window in my studio since Nov 4th. The light is not strong. It is winter's subtle light in Northern-East New England but I feel the different temperature of sunshine everyday. We have 9-10 hours of sunshine now in Johnson, VT. How much important for me is the window in my studio? I was desperate about my studio without windows last year. I don't know exactly what my interest about windows is... I am working on it through my experimental works.
Also, I have been reading above books since I am in VSC.
Open Studio in VSC
Lea Bucknell's Studio
Scott Carter's Studio
Beatrice Wanjiku Njoroge's Studio
Virginia Wagner's Studio
Dexter Tupiano Fernandez's Stuio
Emilie Bernard's Studio
We had 1st open studio on Nov 3rd!
So interesting.

Vermont Studio Center
I am in Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, VT) until Nov 18th (for 4 weeks). I am doing Artist in Residency Program as a sculptor.
I love being here and have had a productive time so far. Slow, Relaxing, No pressure... I can read and research a lot for my new projects and focus on my work. I did some experimental works already. What a great environment and atmosphere here !

Studio_Painting and Printmaking.
I found 21 discarded windows near my studio last month.
I put a window in my studio... There is no windows in my studio... I hate being in a space without a window because I feel that I am in a basement: timeless, spaceless, airless... I know that this is not a window as functional but I somehow feel much better when I am making works next to the fake window... The reflection of the window allows me see other views through it. I feel more space and not isolated.
I have been doing printmaking and painting on a glass since I came back from Seattle. It is really new for me and so much fun. I just finally solve the problem about invisible paint and success! Now, I can control and start making my new work. Printmaking still has problem... :((((

Seattle!
Twisted cup competition / Anna's demonstration for making multi-parts molds
Inspiration Point
Tavares made printmaking and showed me how to do it. I was so excited at seeing all the time when he and Carla (printmaking coordinator) did. Now, I am getting obsessed with printmaking...
So much fun :-)
I love the neon work. I wanna see this work in completely dark dark dark room again. I saw the work in daytime and nighttime and in the crowded and alone. In the dark, the neon looks like floating in the air and more isolated... Seeing it alone, I felt that "I" means myself and the work corresponds my feeling that I am looking for the next place to live as home at present but I do not know where... Especially, since the earthquake happened in Japan, I have considered that my home is not safe and unstable; I still miss my home in Japan as "Home" but I am not comfortable to live there anymore... "Where Do I Go From Here" asks me "Where else do I feel homey if my home is not "home" anymore" and "Where can I go... Maybe nowhere..."I went to Pilchuck glass school in Seattle on May 23-June 10. It was so much fun and I learned so many things from Tavares and all people who was there.
I was an artist assistant for Tavares Strachan. He made a lot of experimental works and some completed works for 2.5 weeks. He is an amazing and professional artist and a great person (he knows Japanese somehow... I still try to figure it out why he knows so many funny Japanese...). It was so much fun to work with him. I hope that I will work with him again and soon :-).
